TECHNOLOGY & CONFIGURATION

Continuous sand filters

Water rises through a descending sand bed. The airlift transfers dirty sand to the washer; cleaned media returns to the bed while washwater carries away the separated solids.

Continuous upflow filtration

Solids are retained within the moving single-grade sand bed.

Integrated media cleaning

Compressed air lifts sand to the washer without a submerged mechanical drive.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

Filter continuously.
Wash the media as it moves.

  1. Water enters the lower bed. The inlet distributor spreads feed through the sand.
  2. Water flows upward. Suspended particles are retained as filtrate rises to the outlet.
  3. Sand moves downward. The central airlift carries dirty sand to the washer at the top.
  4. Clean sand returns. Separated solids leave with the washwater while cleaned media returns to the bed.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you specify.

Is a shutdown backwash cycle required?

The filter washes media continuously while filtering. It does not need a separate high-rate backwash pump or dedicated backwash sequencing; normal isolation valves remain.

Is the sand charge included?

The datasheet lists filter media and initial charge among the extra options. It should be explicitly included in the agreed offer where required.
